Deion Sanders got paid.
If the NFL teams hope to hire Deion away from college in the near future, they will have to pull him away from a lucrative new contract in Colorado.
The Colorado Board of Regents approved a new five-year, $54 million contract for Sanders that will pay him at least $10 million in every season through 2029. It makes him the highest-paid coach in the Big 12 and one of the highest-paid coaches in college football.

Sanders has gone 13-12 in two seasons in Boulder. The Buffaloes went 4-8 in his first season, then jumped to 9-4 in 2024 with a loss to BYU in the Alamo Bowl.

The Buffaloes narrowly missed out on the Big 12 title game last season, which would have put the program one win away from the College Football Playoff.
The program certainly sees that the future is bright.
The Dallas Cowboys spoke briefly with Deion Sanders, but at every turn, he made it clear that his home was in Colorado.

When he originally took the job with Colorado, there were no expectations for a program that has notoriously been bad for years.
The hype may have changed, but nothing spectacular was expected.
That has changed now.
The University of Colorado Boulder has extended Deion Sanders’ contract as head football coach and announced a new five-year, $54 million deal with Sanders.
Now that he is getting paid like a top coach, he will need to deliver like one as well.
