Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo is facing a lawsuit from former teammate Mattheos Katergaris, who claims Skattebo’s actions caused a severe injury that derailed his football career. Katergaris alleges that Skattebo jumped on the back of a golf cart during practice on July 31, 2023, causing it to collapse and resulting in a ruptured triceps tendon. Katergaris, who has yet to fully recover, is seeking over $300,000 in damages.
Efforts to serve Skattebo with the lawsuit have proven difficult, according to Katergaris’ attorney, Neil Udulutch. After multiple failed attempts to locate him, a judge authorized notice of the lawsuit to be published in a local newspaper.
Udulutch expressed frustration over Cam Skattebo’s elusive status, saying, “He’s been hard to pin down. I don’t know if he even lives in Arizona anymore.”
Lawsuit Raises Questions Amid NFL Draft Preparations

Cam Skattebo, a breakout star for Arizona State last season, has been preparing for the 2025 NFL Draft. The former first-team All-American and Heisman Trophy finalist has been attending the NFL Scouting Combine and meeting with teams, making it difficult for him to locate for legal proceedings.
Initially, Mattheos Katergaris filed a lawsuit against Arizona State before adding Cam Skattebo’s name more recently. The timing of this move has raised speculation, but Udulutch dismissed concerns, stating, “We became aware that it was actually him that was on the back of the golf cart, jumping up and down, according to my client.”
