Former LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne has revealed that her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit photoshoot was a painful affair.
Dunne earned her first cover for the magazine this year, having done two previous shoots. She took off to Bermuda for the gig, but it wasn’t all easy street, given her recent struggle with injury.
Dunne fractured her kneecap back in March, which ended her season with the Tigers prematurely, so it was hard completing certain poses.
“Fun fact: I was shooting on a fractured kneecap, so poses like this and the cover shot kinda hurt. But it was honestly so worth it,” she said in a video showing some behind-the-scenes footage you can check out right below.
The gymnast only spent a day on the island, returning to LSU for class the following day.

Olivia Dunne previously posed for SI in Puerto Rico and Portugal but made her way to the cover in her third successive shoot. Her cover photo shows her kneeling in sea water and posing seductively while wearing a zebra print bikini top and green and black panties.
“I can’t believe it. Oh my god,” she told SI. “That photo is so good. That is crazy, I am a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model.”
The issue launched on May 17.
Fellow gymnast Jordan Chiles, actress Salma Hayek, and model Lauren Chan are also cover stars.
Dunne joined Chiles, Hayek, and Chan at the SI Swimsuit party in New York City on May 16, with the likes of 50 Cent and Rob Gronkowski also in attendance. The rapper put on quite a performance, dropping some of his most popular tracks such as “In Da Club” and “Candy Shop.”
Gronk attended with his girlfriend, Camille Kostek. Chiles’ Team USA teammate Suni Lee was there as well.
