Cameron Rising, who spent his last six years of college football with the Utes, will celebrate his 26th birthday on Tuesday. After attending Newbury Park High School in Newbury Park, California, Rising began his college career with the Texas Longhorns in 2018.
Rising was a redshirt in his freshman season, with Sam Ehlinger taking most of the snaps behind center. Rising was also a redshirt in 2019, as future NFL Pro Bowl quarterback Tyler Huntley spent the entire season as Utah’s starter.
Cameron Rising appeared in just one game during the COVID-shortened 2020 season before taking over as the starting quarterback in 2021. That year, he completed 63.6 percent of pass attempts for 2,493 yards, 20 touchdowns and just five interceptions.
