Police Questioning Whether On-Site Defibrillator Could Have Prevented Dayane de Jesus’ Death

The gym, Foma Fitness, has remained closed amid an investigation. While Dayane de Jesus is understood to have heart problems, police are still looking to find out whether an on-site defibrillator could have prevented her death.
“Regardless, if there is this congenital problem, we need to know whether the presence of the defibrillator could have prevented this death,” Rio de Janeiro Civil Police chief Angelo Lages was quoted as saying.
Dayane majored in international studies was supposed to graduate from the Federal University of Rio de Janaeiro next month.
“We share with her family and friends the pain of this loss, and we are available to provide any support that may be necessary,” her school said in a statement. “It is established that the institute will be in official mourning for the next three days.”
Dayane de Jesus was described as a hard-working, great woman who was a “source of great pride for her parents.”
TPS extends sympathies to Dayane’s family, friends, and loved ones.
May she rest in peace.
