Carnell Davis was injured during a street fight in New Jersey, the Press of Atlantic City’s Ahmad Austin reported Tuesday.
The video of that altercation betwwen the Rutgers freshman wide receiver and an unknown man was shared Monday on Facebook by Keith Robert Ford.
In the Facebook post’s description, Ford said that his son Paul Ford was at Brigantine Beach with Davis playing football when the situation unfolded. Viewer discretion is advised for the video.
“Apparently there were some words exchanged between Carnell and some other older guy,” Ford said in the post. “The guy provoked Carnell by saying sexual harassment things to Carnell about his mom. Carnell obviously questioned him on it. The guy initiated the first move hands on with a shove. Carnell responded by defending himself with hands up. The guy throws one punch and knocks Carnell flat out, smashing his head on the pavement. He ended up in the hospital, in a coma, last night with a fractured skull and bleeding of the brain.”
In the video below, a guy in a red cap could be seen shoving Davis, then after both men square up for mutual combat, the guy in the hat catches Davis with a devastating right hand to the face. Davis falls back to the pavement and appears to hit his head.
“Our main concern is Carnell’s health and well-being,” a Rutgers football spokesperson said in a statement to the Press of Atlantic City. “He is home with his family and continues to make progress in his recovery. We look forward to getting him back on campus soon.”
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound finished his senior year in high school with 18 receptions for 311 yards and three touchdowns. As a junior at St. Augustine during the 2019 season, Davis caught 19 passes for 384 yards and seven touchdowns.WANT MORE FROM TOTALPROSPORTS? FOLLOW US ON GOOGLE NEWS.
