
Multiple people lost their lives in a plane crash while trying to get to a college golf tournament last week.
The plane, which was carrying fans to the Tar Heel Intercollegiate golf tournament, crashed in the Cherokee National Forest in Polk County on Friday.
Middle Tennessee State University has announced that one of the competitors lost multiple family members in the crash, with their father and grandparents having perished, per WSMV4.
Carter Maneth, a golfer at the university, has received strong words of support from the institution.

According to the Tri-State Mutual Aid Association. McGee Tyson Air Traffic Control called Polk County 911 when the plane in question vanished off their radar. A number of agencies responded, joining forces to search for the missing aircraft.
Per TMSAA, rescue crews came upon the wreckage and three bodies. Maneth’s father and grandparents did not make it.

“Our hearts are with Carter and his loved ones during this unimaginable time. We are keeping him and his family in our thoughts and prayers, and we ask the Blue Raider community to do the same,” MTSU said in a statement.
Tennessee Plane Crash Among Several Other Disastrous Aviation Incidents

The incident was not the only of its kind to take place on Friday, as a plane went down in Boca Raton, Florida, on the morning of. Three people are also reported to have been killed in that mishap, which involved a Cessna 310 that experienced mechanical difficulties shortly after it took off.
A driver on the ground was injured but survived.
This followed a helicopter crash in New York less than 24 hours prior. The chopper, which belonged to a touring company, went down into the Hudson River on Thursday afternoon, killing its pilot and a family of five that was on holiday from Spain.
TPS would like to extend sympathies to Carter Maneth and the rest of his family, as well as the other families impacted by Friday’s crash.
