Graduating from post-secondary is among the most important moments in one’s life. So why not celebrate it in style?
We’ve seen some epic reveals behind costumes in masks in real-life (“The Masked Singer”), television shows, movies (“V For Vendetta”) and much more. And then there’s doing what a University of South Carolina student did at her graduation ceremony last week.
Sarah Sylvester, who graduated from South Carolina in biomedical engineering, took center stage in a viral clip by revealing herself as the school’s mascot during the graduation ceremony. As it turns out, she was the person behind the costume over the past two years.
Though Sylvester is finished as the school’s mascot, Cocky, she’ll continue to study at the university as she gets ready to commence her master’s degree, via Michaela Baker Taylor of the school’s communications and marketing team.
It’s hard to think of a better way to retire as the mascot. There’s a fun idea for current (and future) school mascots to keep in mind when it’s time to ride off into the sunset.
Last month was an exciting time for Gamecocks’ athletes, as five players from the football team were selected in the NFL Draft: Cornerback Cam Smith (51st overall to the Miami Dolphins), defensive tackle Zacch Pickens (64th overall to the Chicago Bears), cornerback Darius Rush (138th overall to the Indianapolis Colts), guard Jovaughn Gwyn (225th overall to the Atlanta Falcons) and wide receiver Jalen Brooks (244th overall to the Dallas Cowboys).WANT MORE FROM TOTALPROSPORTS?
