
Another notable name is leaving ESPN following Stan Verrett’s announcement last week. Longtime college reporter Gene Wojciechowski revealed today that this Saturday would be his last day with the company.
Wojciechowski, who has been with The Worldwide Leader in Sports for nearly 28 years, announced his exit in a tweet on Saturday morning, singling certain people out with a thank you.
“After 27 1/2 yrs, my official last day on the ESPN books,” he wrote, mentioning several colleagues.

Gene Wojciechowski’s post prompted several comments, with friends and coworkers falling in with well wishes.
“Legendary run. Congratulations, Geno,” Adam Schefter wrote.
“Tremendous reporter. Brilliant writer and storyteller. Better man. Unsurpassed as a loyal friend. Legend in the business,” Rece Davis said.

“Legendary run for a pro’s pro,” Dan Wetzel shared. “You could do it all and make it look effortless.

Gene Wojciechowski had been part of ESPN’s college football coverage for decades and was often seen on ‘College GameDay’ as he shared updates on what was happening around the sport during the fall.
He was also a contributor to ESPNMAG.com in the early 2000s.

Verrett is leaving ESPN this summer after 25 years with the network. His exit is linked to the company’s Los Angeles ‘SportsCenter’ production closing down; he had anchored it since 2009.
