Florida Gators freshman defensive lineman Stephon Shivers has been named as the player on the team who was arrested Sunday afternoon on third-degree felony charge of false imprisonment (dating violence).
He was initially not named since he is a juvenile.
The 17-year-old has been placed under house arrest following his initial appearance in Alachua County Juvenile Court. Due to Shivers’ status as a minor, an arrest report was not available, and the specific charges are unclear.
The Gainesville Sun first reported the news.
Alachua County Court Circuit Judge Susanne Wilson Bullard modified the terms of Shivers’ house arrest to allow for school and football practice, but she also imposed a strict no-contact order with the alleged victim, according to The Sun.
Bullard made it clear that should Stephon Shivers violate the order, she “will not hesitate to either put (Shivers) in detention or have (Shivers) wear his monitor.”
The alleged victim remains anonymous and attended Thursday’s hearing.

What Happened Between Florida Gators Freshman Defensive Lineman Stephon Shivers And The Victim

Florida freshman defensive lineman Stephon Shivers was arrested on a “third-degree felony charge of false imprisonment (dating violence),” per The Gainesville Sun.
The Brentwood, Tennessee, native and the alleged victim got into a heated verbal argument following the disclosure of sensitive information on the latter’s cell phone.
The victim told police that she tried to leave the room but was blocked by the accused person, who grabbed her phone and threw it against the wall. The unnamed victim added she was pushed onto a bed, where she was shaken, held down, choked, and punched multiple times in the face.
This was particularly frightening since Stephon Shivers weighs nearly 400 pounds and outweighs the victim by more than 200 pounds.
“Are you satisfied?” the victim said she asked the accused, to which he replied, “Yes.”
