This is just all bad.
Alabama State Rep. John Rogers (D) was present during a committee hearing on HB35, which is a bill that would prohibit a transgender person from competing in sporting events that are female only.
During the hearing, Rogers shockingly stated that, “My favorite player is a transgender.” He was unable to name that player, but stated he played for the “North Carolina Panthers” and was about to be cut by the team for being transgender.
“I don’t recall his name,” he added, asserting “about 20 football players are transgender” that he knows of.
Yellowhammer News followed up with Rogers on his comments, where he said the player was Cam Newton.
Rogers then said that he misspoke and that he believes Newton is “gay.”
This might be news to Cam Newton since his longtime girlfriend just gave birth to the couple’s child.
The only thing that makes sense is that Cam Newton has been known for his eye-popping fashion that has had many trolls questioning his sexuality, but most people are doing so just to make fun of him. I don’t think anybody actually thought Cam was gay, let alone transgender.
