Cleveland Browns running back Duke Johnson every single OTA as he is hoping to make his way off of the roster and onto another team to showcase his talent.
His trade request stems from the team signing free agent running back Kareem Hunt, which means he’s going to be taking a back seat in a franchise that he has shown loyalty to. He made that clear on Tuesday to reporters that he feels “unwanted.”
Despite the fact that Hunt will miss the first half of the campaign on suspension, Johnson has to feel he isn’t seen as a key player for the Browns moving forward.
Reporters would eventually bring up those comments to Baker Mayfield and he didn’t have a ton of sympathy for his situation at all.
The Cleveland Browns QB did not mince words when he spoke on the disgruntled RB.
Mayfield added that “You’re either on this train or you’re not, it’s moving. You can get out of the way or you can join us.”
Mayfield later revisited the Johnson topic when he stated the situation isn’t awkward.
“It’s not awkward,” Baker later stated matter-of-factly. “It’s self-inflicted. It is what it is. It’s not awkward for anybody else in this building.”
“He’s got to do his job. He’s a professional and I hope he does his job.”
