North Carolina Tar Heels football head coach Bill Belichick and girlfriend Jordon Hudson are following a shrewd business strategy from Taylor Swift on the trademarks front.
In December, Bill Belichick signed a five-year deal worth $50 million to take over as the new head coach of the Tar Heels football team. The deal includes a $10 million buyout clause if Belichick terminates the contract before June 1, but that’s highly unlikely to occur.
Since leaving the New England Patriots last year, multiple reports have detailed the soured relationship between Belichick and team owner Robert Kraft. Renowned as a football genius, Belichick also found a crafty business loophole to get back at Kraft.
According to Us Weekly, Belichick and Hudson filed trademarks for iconic Patriots team phrases, including “Do your job,” “No days off,” and “Ignore the noise.” These trademarks are owned by Kraft, but Hudson was able to take advantage of a loophole by putting “Bill’s Version) at the end of each trademark filing.
For those unaware, Taylor Swift has filed trademarks with “Taylor’s Version” in her re-recorded albums. With Belichick and Hudson following that blueprint, the legendary football head coach will have full freedom to use at Chapel Hill, which he made legendary in Foxborough.

Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson reportedly began dating in 2023 after the former’s breakup with longtime girlfriend Linda Holliday. Belichick, who turned 73 on Wednesday, is 49 years older than Hudson.

UNC Is Bill Belichick’s First College Coaching Job

Belichick was employed by an NFL team every year from 1975 to 2023, beginning with the Baltimore Colts (now Indianapolis Colts). Belichick was surprisingly passed over in the 2024 head coach hiring cycle, keeping him out of NFL employment for the first time in 50 years.
North Carolina marks the first college coaching position of Belichick’s illustrious career. Of course, Belichick may go back to the NFL if he has a successful first year on Chapel Hill.
