It was said to be down to the Atlanta Falcons and the New Orleans Saints…
Turns out it was neither of those teams, as Deshaun Watson has gone back to one of his previous suitors, choosing to join the Cleveland Browns instead. It was a shocking turn of events for the Houston Texans quarterback, who was expected to be joining the Atlanta Falcons on Monday…
Looks like he’ll become a Brown instead, as early as today officially.
It is now up to the Texans and browns to finalize a deal.
As for the Browns and Watson, they’re said to have agreed to a new five-year contract.
The Cleveland Browns were said to be out of the running for Watson’s services just a few days ago. It looks like the star quarterback had a change of heart somewhere along the way.
Whatever the case may be, Watson will now join Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson and Mitch Trubisky in a tough AFC North division. As for current Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield, looks like he’ll be granted his trade request after all.
