Eric Reid was set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2019 after signing with the Carolina Panthers in Week 4 of the 2018 season and playing out the season.
The Panthers loved his play on the field and decided to bring him back for a few more years. On Monday, the team officially announced they had signed the safety to a 3-year deal worth $22 million.
Reid finished the year with 71 tackles, five passes defensed and one interception in 13 games.
“I feel comfortable here. I was excited just to get (the deal) done,” Reid said. “I fit well into this defense.”
“We always knew he was a solid football player,” head coach Ron Rivera said during the season, “and he showed it to us.”
