On Saturday, ex-Ohio State football player Marcus Williamson not only announced his retirement, but went on a Twitter rant when he made some damning accusations against Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes.
Jemele Hill read what he had to say and added that ‘Urban Meyer is a terrible guy.’
Former Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones did not appreciate Hill jumping all over the story without knowing any facts.
“Come on now Jemele, what’s terrible is that you are jumping all over a “story” that basically claims a man and program is racist with no real facts but yet ignore all of the people & players coming to his aid because of the FALSE allegations,” he tweeted.
“Did Urban and his staff run a very tough, competitive program, ABSOLUTELY! But allegations of mistreatment and attire around the facility was because of skin color or ANYTHING that wasn’t related to football or school is bull shit! Get the FACTS before you try to pass judgment,” he added.
Jones played quarterback at Ohio State from 2012-15. He is hardly the only player who has come out in defense of Meyer in the wake of these accusations.
Urban Meyer had way too many controversies combined with losses in the NFL in his first season and the Jacksonville Jaguars had to part ways with him after a 2-11 record. Issues started right away when he hired a strength and conditioning coordinator who had been accused of making racist remarks and bullying Black players. He was then spotted in a bar with a woman giving him a lap dance that was not his wife.
The latest embarrassment was a report in the Tampa Bay Times in which former kicker Josh Lambo alleged that Meyer kicked him in the leg while he was stretching in warm-ups before a practice during the week of the final preseason game. That was pretty much the final nail in his coffin.WANT MORE FROM TOTALPROSPORTS? FOLLOW US ON GOOGLE NEWS.
