The FIFA World Cup is in Qatar this year and will take place in Doha and the rest of the country for the four week tournament.
Chad Johnson nearly learned the hard way just how strict the law is in Qatar.
The former NFL wide receiver is joining Fox as a contributing studio analyst and was recently in Qatar. Johnson revealed that he was reprimanded at the airport showing a public display of affection.
“I just got reprimanded (warning) in Qatar for showing display of affection in the airport, had no idea it was frowned upon, people had me nervous like i was going to jail”
If a man or woman kisses his or her partner in a public space, whether male or female, he or she can get into serious trouble.
According to Qatar’s travel advice:
“Any intimacy in public between men and women (including between teenagers) can lead to arrest. Living together whilst unmarried is prohibited in Qatar, and sex outside of marriage, regardless of whether this is same sex couples or opposite sex couples, is illegal.
Luckily for Johnson, all he got was a warning. The last thing he and his girl would have wanted is to be locked up abroad.
