With Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston both joining the New York Giants, Aaron Rodgers, Carson Wentz, Joe Flacco and Trey Lance headline the list of the best available remaining free agent quarterbacks.
The Giants signed Winston to a two-year deal in free agency last week, only to land Wilson on a one-year deal a few days later. With that, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns and Tennessee Titans remain the only teams without a suitable starting QB option.
Tennessee and Cleveland hold the first and second overall picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, respectively. The Steelers appear to be the front-runners for Rodgers, so where could the likes of Flacco, Lance and Wentz land?
According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, the Browns and Carson Wentz “definitely have mutual interest” on the former Philadelphia Eagles signal-caller “becoming their veteran bridge quarterback.”
🚨NEWS: Pro Bowler quarterback Carson Wentz is still a FREE AGENT.

Wentz is 32-years-old and a Super Bowl Champion and former All-Pro – he was the 2nd overall pick in the 2016 draft.

Wentz has accepted one-year deals and backup jobs around the NFL since his last season as a starting quarterback in 2022. Since leaving the Eagles in 2021, Wentz has had one-year stops with the Indianapolis Colts (2021), Washington Commanders (2022), Los Angeles Rams (2023) and Kansas City Chiefs (2024).
The Colts gave up on Carson Wentz and traded him to Washington following a disappointing end to the 2021 season. Injuries and lackluster production caused him to lose his starting job in DC to Taylor Heinicke in 2022, and Wentz has been a backup ever since.

Carson Wentz Would Be A Cheap Option For Browns

Veteran journeyman quarterbacks like Wentz don’t cost much money in free agency these days. Even if the Browns were to use the No. 2 pick on a quarterback (likely Miami’s Cam Ward or Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders), they can still add a veteran like Wentz to be a short-term starter before handing the keys to a rookie (or Kenny Pickett).
