The Denver Broncos are making it clear: they’re all in on Bo Nix. After strengthening their offense with important acquisitions in free agency, Denver is reportedly eyeing another major move in the upcoming NFL Draft. According to Fox Sports’ David Helman, the Broncos plan to trade up from No. 20 to No. 13 to select Boise State’s standout running back, Ashton Jeanty.
Jeanty, a 2024 Heisman Trophy finalist, put up historic numbers in college, delivering the best rushing season since Barry Sanders’ legendary campaign. His dynamic playstyle and explosiveness would make him an immediate weapon in Sean Payton’s system, complementing the Broncos’ revamped offense.
Denver Broncos’ Aggressive Approach To The Draft

Denver’s front office has been aggressive this offseason in surrounding Bo Nix with playmakers. The addition of tight end Evan Engram provided the “joker” role Payton sought, but the backfield remains needed after Javonte Williams’ departure to the Dallas Cowboys. Trading up for Jeanty would send a strong message: the Broncos are serious about competing in the high-powered AFC West.
Helman’s mock draft scenario highlights how Denver could make this happen. By moving up seven spots, the Broncos ensure they get their guy rather than risk missing out. With Jeanty in the backfield, Denver could feature a balanced attack capable of keeping pace with division rivals like the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers.
@Broncos TRADE up? 13. Denver Broncos (trade up from No. 20 with Dolphins: Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State Sean Payton is an aggressive guy looking to add a dynamic weapon to his offense. If Jeanty somehow slides past Dallas at No. 12 What we giving up tho? https://t.co/gBQWiqgrTK

Jeanty’s skill set makes him a perfect fit for Payton’s offense. His versatility as both a runner and receiver would take pressure off Nix while creating additional mismatches for opposing defenses. Pairing Jeanty with Engram and the Broncos’ existing weapons could transform Denver’s offense into a legitimate threat in 2025.

While Jeanty appears to be the prime target, other running backs like Omarion Hampton remain on the board. However, if Denver pulls the trigger on this trade, it would solidify their commitment to surrounding Nix with everything he needs to succeed.
If the move pays off, the Broncos could look at their first AFC West title since 2015.
