One month after the Titans eliminated the Patriots in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, there has been some speculation that the Titans might opt to go after the 42-year-old QB.
Derrick Henry wants everybody to pump their brakes.
The Titans star running back said he believes Ryan Tannehill, who helped lead the team to the AFC title game last season, can take them to the Super Bowl.
“I would think: Why isn’t Ryan Tannehill good enough?” Henry said on the “Bussin’ With The Boys” podcast when asked about his reaction if the Titans looked into Brady.
“He still can play,” Henry said of the 42-year-old Brady. “Obviously, age doesn’t matter for him, he’s still playing at a high level, but my question would be: Why ain’t Ryan good enough, you know?
Henry made sure to reiterate that him wanting Tannehill wasn’t meant as a knock on Brady.
“Tom Brady is the GOAT,” Henry said. “That is no question. At all. The best of all time. But then, at the same time, I mean, Ryan Tannehill is our quarterback, went to the AFC Championship. Why would we not want Ryan back? Just wanted to clear that up, Tom Brady is the GOAT.”
The 31-year-old Tannehill, who is set to be an unrestricted free agent, threw for 2,742 yards and completing 70.3 percent of his passes. He also threw 22 touchdowns and just six interceptions.
Henry led the NFL with 1,540 rushing yards last season and was damn near unstoppable in the postseason until the team played the Chiefs.
