What the hell is a catch?

In the second quarter of the Bears-Eagles game, Mitch Trubisky found WR Anthony Miller for what seemed like a completion until Eagles’ LeBlanc reached in his hands in and separated the ball from him as they both his the ground.

A timeout was called and all hell broke loose as refs went to review. What was thought to have been a catch turned out to be otherwise because nobody on either team recovered the ball after the apparent strip.

If the rule is that they can’t rule that a catch because no one recovered the fumble (which makes no sense), then why was the play even reviewed?? The ref picked up the football.

That was catch. But the refs totally made the right call to leave it at incomplete (and avoid a massive controversy). That’s a broken rule that needs to be addressed this offseason.
