The former Bills quarterback spoke to the media and said that he wants Allen to run out of bounds instead of trying to be a tough guy and take guys on.
“I would tell him to run out of bounds and get down,” Bledsoe said. “He’s so damn competitive and he’s such a big dude that he just wants to take guys on. It’s like no man, I understand that competitive desire we all believe in and it’s awesome, but your best ability for this team is availability so let’s run out of bounds every now and then.”
In the second game of the 2001 season, Bledsoe famously suffered from internal bleeding after a hit from New Yor Jets linebacker Mo Lewis. Tom Brady took over in that game and the NFL would change as a whole, because he is still playing football in 2022.
Here’s that hit where Bledsoe should’ve ran out of bounds.
In 2021, Allen completed 63.3% of passes for 4,407 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions while adding 763 yards and six scores on the ground.
