Kenny Pickett is a Super Bowl champion after he was part of the Philadelphia Eagles team that defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in February.
On Monday, the team was invited to the White House to celebrate the occasion, but some chose not to attend.
Despite being named Super Bowl MVP in February, quarterback Jalen Hurts didn’t make the trip due to what was called a “scheduling conflict.” Several other players, including wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, also missed the event. The Eagles have known since mid-March that the White House celebration would be on April 28.
Other names included:
- Jalen Carter
- Jordan Davis
- Brandon Graham
- Nolan Smith
- Zack Baun
- Nakobe Dean
- CJ Gardner Johnson
- Darius Slay
- Quinyon Mitchell
At the NFL’s annual league meeting earlier this month, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said the White House trip was “optional” for every player on the team, so no one will be punished for missing the event.
Backup quarterback Kenny Pickett also wasn’t at the White House.

Most surprising no-show at the White House? Hometown boy Kenny Pickett. If I'm not mistaken, the ONLY active roster white player among the no show contingent. pic.twitter.com/qn9wUL2OeN

Unlike the others, Pickett had a good reason since he was traded to the Cleveland Browns earlier this offseason. However, he and many players who aren’t part of the organization were still invited to the White House since he was part of the Super Bowl roster.
However, he opted not to show up, and it surprised fans.
