Officials had to stop play because of an equipment malfunction during the first quarter of Saturday’s NFC Divisional Round showdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants at Lincoln Financial Field.
The reason? The chains used for the first down marker broke. The officials even had to go into a television timeout to resolve the issue.

Nothing like broken chains on the first down marker that requires a stoppage of play, let alone during an NFL playoff game. So of course, the equipment malfunction led to these hilarious reactions from social media:
Well, we suppose it’s better than ripping the officials over a terrible call or non-call that could have changed the outcome of the game. We’ve seen a lot of those, but the refs were otherwise doing a perfectly fine job in the Giants-Eagles game.
The winner of the Eagles-Giants Divisional Round Game will meet the winner of the Dallas Cowboys-San Francisco 49ers Sunday tilt in the NFC Championship Game next week. If the Eagles win, the conference title game will be played at Lincoln Financial Field.
