Not many fan bases like the team’s ownership, and that is especially true for Detroit Lions fans.
The Detroit Lions Hall of Fame ceremony for legendary receiver Calvin Johnson didn’t quite go as the franchise had planned as they could not get fans to stop booing the owner.
During halftime of the team’s Week 3 game against the Baltimore Ravens, the Lions planned to honor Johnson and present him with his Hall of Fame ring.
After an opening speech from a Hall of Fame representative, Lions owner Sheila Ford Hamp took the podium, and things got crazy. Ford Hamp attempted to speak but she was drowned out by massive boos.
Eventually, Johnson took the podium but only gave a brief, 30-second speech before the ceremony was over.
“I love y’all,” Johnson said. “I love the energy y’all bring every Sunday. I miss you guys, and I look forward to great things here in Detroit.”
