Miami’s Cam Ward, Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart are the consensus top three quarterback prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft, but one executive doesn’t want Alabama’s Jalen Milroe to be overlooked, either.
Scouts and analysts rank Jalen Milroe among the second-tier 2025 quarterback prospects in this class, along with Texas’ Quinn Ewers, Ohio State’s Will Howard, and Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel.
It’d be a surprise if Milroe was taken in round one, but one assistant NFL GM offered a hot take to Fox Sports insider Jordan Schultz: They think the Alabama product is among “the most intriguing” draft prospects:
“He’s one of the most intriguing guys in the entire draft. There’s a narrative that he’s just a running quarterback, but that’s way off…His deep ball can be a major weapon at the next level. I’ve watched him a lot — he’s very capable in the pocket and carves up zone defenses well. There’s a lot to work with, and I like the kid.”
Recent Alabama quarterbacks in the NFL have been a mixed bag, to say the least. Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts (he spent his final college season at Oklahoma) have found success.

Mac Jones had one good year with the New England Patriots and is now a journeyman backup, having just signed with the San Francisco 49ers. The jury is still out on Bryce Young, who showed improvement late in his sophomore season after getting benched.

In his two seasons as Alabama’s starting quarterback, Jalen Milroe threw 39 touchdowns against 17 interceptions and racked up 1,257 rushing yards with 32 (!) touchdowns on the ground.
Remember, the Eagles caught a lot of heat for taking Hurts in the second round in 2020 when they had Carson Wentz. And the Dolphins hadn’t had a reliable starting quarterback in more than two decades when they took Tagovailoa. But again, it depends largely on the schematic fit.
If Milroe lands with the right team, he could be a bonafide superstar in this league.
Which Teams Could Target Jalen Milroe?

Teams that could target Milroe include the Pittsburgh Steelers, who lack a suitable starting option right now, the Los Angeles Rams (Matthew Stafford’s successor?) and New Orleans Saints.
If a QB-needy team like the Tennessee Titans or Cleveland Browns passes on a QB in round one, they could look at a second-tier guy like Milroe in round two.
