Former LSU star Malik Nabers is hurting after losing a friend and brother in Kyren Lacy.
Lacy seemed destined to join the New York Giants receiver in the NFL after leading the Tigers in touchdowns last season. He was a projected first-round pick before ending up in serious trouble with the law and has since passed away, having taken his life.
The 24-year-old, a wideout himself, reportedly shot himself while being chased by police in Houston, Texas, on Saturday night. He was nearing a court hearing following a charge of negligent homicide, among others, having been involved in a hit-and-run incident that left one man dead and two other people injured.
A grand jury was set to hear evidence in the case this Monday, but the receiver didn’t make it to this week.
Malik Nabers, a former teammate and close friend, was just as shocked as everyone else. But he feels it more than most people, given the bond he shared with Lacy.

While he expressed immense sadness, Nabers was understandably angry at Lacy for leaving him and not reaching out to him during the time of his greatest need.
“Damn man I just gave u the tightest hug ever when I saw u bruh💔💔 why you ain’t call leek brudda, yk I had you bruh whatever u needed!!” He wrote as part of a caption to a post in which he shared multiple photos of them together, as well as clips and screenshots of DMs they shared.
“Dude ya f**kin hurt me bruh!!!” he added. “This the first day of my life I felt the world go by slower then it ever did🥺🥺 I can play back every memory in my head and you saying I ain’t gone be able to joce wit ya nomo??!!! WHAT? You serious 2??”
Rookie of the Year Jayden Daniels was also devastated by Lacy’s passing and took to social murder to air his grief.
It’s been a tough period for these two young men, who will naturally struggle to come to grips with the death of someone they loved dearly.
