The death of Dwayne Haskins just continues to get more heartbreaking after audio was released that seems to tell a deeper story of what happened that tragic morning.
Haskins’ wife, Kalabrya, called 911 from Pittsburgh to state that the quarterback was walking to get gas in Florida after he was left stranded in his car.
“I kept calling and kept calling,” she told the officer. “He wasn’t answering. Eventually, after 10 minutes of calling the phone, eventually, it cut off. It’s not working now. I had his location. I just want somebody to go in the area and see if his car is there and if he’s OK and if anything happened to him.”
As you hear above, the 911 operator told towards the end that they did have an incident on the freeway, but could not confirm if it was her husband that was involved. In the end, it was Haskins, who had been struck by a dump truck and killed.
There were rumors of him possibly on the freeway trying to get gas, but it wasn’t clear until this audio.
He had been in the area training with Steelers teammates.
