Maxx Robert Crosby was born on August 22, 1997, in Lapeer, Michigan, but spent his teenage years in Colleyville, Texas. His first name was inspired by his significant birth weight of 11 pounds, 9 ounces. He attended Colleyville Heritage High School.
Crosby’s mother, Vera, is of Serbian and Albanian heritage. Crosby played for Eastern Michigan from 2015 to 2018, the only school that offered him a football scholarship. He earned first-team All-MAC honors in 2017 and 2018.
In 2023, he was inducted into Eastern Michigan’s Ring of Honor. A year later, after donating $1 million to the program, the playing surface at Rynearson Stadium was renamed “Crosby Field” in his honor.

Selected in the fourth round (106th overall) by the Oakland Raiders, Crosby made his NFL debut in Week 1, recording six tackles in a 24–16 win over Denver.
