Additional details, including the cause of death of John Elway’s longtime friend and agent Jeff Sperbeck, have emerged this Friday.
Sperbeck started representing Elway in the early 90s and fostered a close relationship with the former Denver Broncos quarterback. They became business partners after the latter retired, launching a wine brand together.
The agent, who had a lengthy NFL client list over the many years, was the victim of a tragic accident last month, having hit his head after falling from a golf cart. It was later revealed that Elway was the driver.
Per 9 News, Elway was with his girlfriend, his son, daughter-in-law, Sperbeck, and his wife, as well as other friends, when they left a private event at the Madison Club in La Quinta.
It’s understood that 10-15 people were traveling in three or four golf carts a short distance from the Hall of Famer’s house.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office didn’t attend to the scene because it was a medical emergency.
“There is nothing to indicate that this is anything more than a tragic accident,” they wrote on social media.
TMZ has since reported having been told by the Sheriff’s office that the Coroner’s Bureau has officially ruled Sperbeck’s death an accident, with blunt head trauma noted as the official cause of death.
However, they are still awaiting the results of a toxicology test.
