Jalen Hurts played at an elite level during Super Bowl 57 even though his team didn’t take home the Lombardi Trophy.
A last-second field goal by the Chiefs seemed to end all hopes, but the Eagles still had a little time to try and do the unthinkable. Hurts had a chance to throw a hail mary to or near the end zone, but it fell incredibly short.
We know now the reason for that.
Slow motion video shows Hurts got his foot tangled up a bit with Eagles center Jason Kelce as he stepped up in the pocket. That was more than enough to throw off his motion and completely botch the hail-mary attempt.
That is just bad luck right there.
The Eagles’ third-year QB was arguably the best player on the field on Sunday.
Hurts threw for 304 yards and a touchdown and ran for 70 more yards and 3 touchdowns. He set a Super Bowl record for rushing yards by a quarterback.
No doubt this team will be back in this position for many years to come.
