Sunday’s matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers was supposed to be one of those games where the Tampa bay Bucs got back on track. Instead, the team took a loss and left them with more questions than answers.
Brady and the Bucs offense didn’t score a touchdown until late in the fourth quarter as Tampa Bay lost 20-18 in Pittsburgh to fall to 3-3 on the season.
During the latest episode of his podcast, titled “Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger,” the former QB gave a brutally honest assessment of Brady’s performance and body language.
“I was up there just happy as can be watching the game. This is just my opinion, Tom is the greatest. The Super Bowl rings show it,” Roethlisberger said.
“It didn’t look like he wanted to be out there. Maybe it was the pressure, and he was getting hit and whatever was going on. At one point I looked down there and said, there’s no way he’s enjoying this. No way. I was enjoying being up there watching the game. It just didn’t look fun for him.”
Former longtime NFL wide receiver James Jones did not like what Big Ben had to say about Brady so he put him on blast during Wednesday’s episode of “First Things First” on FS1.
“I wish I was sitting there watching the game with Big Ben because I would’ve said, ‘Big Ben, shut up!'” Jones said, via MSN. “Because if there’s anything we know about Tom Brady, Tom Brady’s gonna give you everything he’s got. If he didn’t care, he wouldn’t be yelling at his linemen, dropping all those F-bombs and all of that. And for Big Ben to say that – you are the king of looking like you don’t care out there.
“Every time you get hit — every time something goes bad — your body language is the worst out there. I’ve seen it with my own two eyes on the same field competing against you. For him to say this about Tom Brady knowing that …. it ain’t about the passion that Tom Brady plays with. So for Big Ben to say that, that’s crazy.”
The Steelers defense did a good job pressuring Brady throughout the game, which led to the now viral video of Brady screaming at his offensive line near the end of the first half.
There’s no arguing with the fact that something seems off with Tom Brady this year as opposed to years past. We understand he’s older, but the dropoff from last year is so noticeable.
It makes you wonder how much his off-the-field issues with his estranged wife is bothering him.
