Connected to veteran receivers throughout the offseason, the Jets ended up using the No. 10 overall pick to address the position. Garrett Wilson will be tasked with helping Zach Wilson, but the Jets did make an offer for Deebo Samuel.
The 49ers turned down a trade offer from the Jets during Round 1 of the draft and kept Deebo Samuel on their roster. Reports going into the draft said San Francisco would need to be blown away by an offer to unload the First-Team All-Pro receiver.
That offer from the Jets? New York’s offer according to Matt Barrows of the Athletic was the No. 10 pick and a fifth-round selection for Samuel and the 49ers’ No. 61 selection.
Barrows added that the Detroit Lions also made a “light” offer for Samuel.

Samuel clearly wants out, but 49ers general manager John Lynch has no desire to trade his All-Pro wideout.
“I can’t ever imagine wanting to move on from Deebo,” Lynch said, via ESPN. “You put yourself through the exercises of, even though we don’t have a first-round pick, you have to be thorough in this process and prepare for everything. So, you go through it and do that. He’s just too good of a player … We’ve got nothing but love for him and nothing but appreciation for what he’s brought, but you just don’t let guys like that walk. So, I can’t envision a scenario where we would [trade him].”
This past season, Samuel had 1,770 scrimmage yards and 14 total touchdowns.
The 49ers front office is clearly hoping they can repair the relationship with Deebo before the 2022 season.WANT MORE FROM TOTALPROSPORTS? FOLLOW US ON GOOGLE NEWS.
