John Lynch may not know it yet, but he just caused a wave of controversy in the 49ers locker room.
The 49ers GM liked a tweet on Friday suggesting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo should be left in Nashville after the team’s 20-17 loss to the Titans on Thursday night.
After social media went nuts, Lynch took to Twitter and stated he “accidentally and unknowingly” had liked the tweet in question while in a Christmas Eve church service, and said he remains a “huge believer” in Garoppolo.
Garoppolo completed 26 of 35 passes for 322 yards, a touchdowns and two interceptions in Thursday’s defeat.
He helped engineer a game-tying drive that ended with a two-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Aiyuk, but he also made many mistakes early in the game that should’ve put it out of reach.
Instead of a possible 24-0 lead, the 49ers were only up 10-0 as the Titans would eventually tie it up, take the lead, and then win the game in the end.
