The Chicago Bears are shoring up their offensive line ahead of next season and are reportedly set to pull off a massive trade in that regard, as it’s been reported that they are set to land guard Joe Thuney in a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Thuney helped the Chiefs reach the Super Bowl last season, but he was not at his best in the big game, given a positional switch. And it appears the Chiefs are ready to part ways.
The Athletic’s Dianna Russini noted that there were ongoing talks between the two teams this week. ESPN’s Adam Schefter has since confirmed that the Bears are sending a 2026 fourth-round pick to the Chiefs in exchange for the four-time Super Bowl winner.

Joe Thuney Could Be A Difference Maker For Caleb Williams
Thuney, who’s also a two-time All-Pro, has been an important player for Kansas City over the years, so this perhaps comes as a surprise.
As for the Bears, they are desperate to augment their offensive line after last season, with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams taking a league-leading 68 sacks.

Williams, one of the most hyped QBs to enter the NFL in recent memory, went at No. 1 overall, but he was hardly as effective as Jayden Daniels, who went to the Washington Commanders at No. 2 and fired the team to the NFC Championship Game.
The Bears reckon Williams can be just as productive with better protection.
The deal cannot become official until the new league year begins next week.
