By now, it’s no secret that Shedeur Sanders’ interview with the New York Giants didn’t go very well, but some new information has surfaced following the quarterback’s unexpected slip in the NFL Draft.
Sanders was projected as a top-five pick in the buildup to the event, but it took the Cleveland Browns trading up into the fifth round to stop his shocking slide.
According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, the Giants intentionally slipped errors into a mock playbook installation that Shedeur failed to spot. Breer notes that the former Colorado star was upset after getting called out for missing the purposeful mistakes.
“The Giants give players an installation with intentional mistakes in it,” Breer reported. “He didn’t catch them, they pointed it out to him, and things didn’t go well after that… He got mad because they did that.”

Shedeur Sanders Could Have Still Gone To The Giants, According To NFL Network Insider

The Giants opted to select Jaxson Dart in the first round, which was one of the most surprising moves of the draft, leaving Shedeur to fall all the way to the fifth round.

Still, it’s believed they would have considered picking him if Dart was not available when they got back on the board late in the first round.
“I think if Dart hadn’t been available for the Giants, trading up in the draft for Shedeur Sanders was a very real possibility. It was something they were definitely considering,” Ian Rapoport relayed via NFL Network.
Time will tell how the decision works out for the Giants, but history is certainly not on their side. In any case, head coach Brian Daboll has already named veteran Russell Wilson his starter for next season.
Of course, Dart will have the opportunity to change his mind, while Sanders will have a chance to prove the coach wrong.
