The New York Giants have a quarterback problem, and they know it. With Kyler Murray potentially available, they may have an unexpected solution.
According to Bovada, New York is the betting favorite for acquiring the Arizona Cardinals quarterback. The Giants are ahead of other potential suitors, including the Indianapolis Colts, Tennessee Titans, and Miami Dolphins. A move for Murray would be a league-shaking decision, but with head coach Brian Daboll under pressure, the Giants may need to swing big to turn things around.
After parting ways with 2019 first-round pick Daniel Jones midseason, the franchise is desperate to find a new leader under center. With the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Giants have a golden opportunity to land a top-tier prospect. But could they take a different route? Trading for Murray would give them an established playmaker rather than banking on a rookie’s development.
A Blockbuster Move In The Making?

Kyler Murray, a former Heisman Trophy winner and two-time Pro Bowler, has had an up-and-down career in Arizona. Entering his seventh NFL season, he boasts a 36-45-1 record as a starter and has consistently shown his dual-threat ability. Last season, he completed 68.8% of his passes for 3,851 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions while contributing over 500 rushing yards.
Financially, a trade for Murray isn’t impossible. He signed a five-year, $230.5 million contract in 2022, but his 2025 salary sits at a manageable $18 million, per Spotrac. However, a deal would likely cost New York their No. 3 pick and multiple additional selections.
The question is: Are the Giants willing to give up premium draft capital for a quarterback who, while talented, has yet to prove he can consistently lead a team to success?

Despite Arizona showing no clear signs of shopping for Kyler Murray, the 33rd Team recently listed him as a potential surprise trade candidate. If the Cardinals aren’t willing to commit more guaranteed money to their quarterback, a trade could be their best move.
For the New York Giants, the decision comes from risk versus reward. Do they gamble on a proven playmaker or roll the dice on a rookie? With so much riding on their next quarterback decision, this offseason could define the franchise’s future.
