The rise of Brock Purdy is already one of the best ever NFL feel-good stories in league history, and it could get even better should the San Francisco 49ers beat the Philadelphia Eagles and progress to the Super Bowl on Sunday.
Then, imagine if they were to win it.
We might have never heard of Purdy had it not been for injuries to both the Niners’ starting quarterback and their backup, Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo. So this has as much to do with luck as it has to do with talent.
Having come into the league as the very last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, there wasn’t much to be expected from Purdy. He was given the title of Mr. Irrelevant by default and would have likely ended his professional career without so much as a single touchdown throw.
Less than a year later, he’s already being tipped to be the QB the 49ers will strive to keep this year. What’s even more amazing is the fact that the previous starter was drafted at No. 3 overall just two years ago.
With Purdy set to play in the NFC Championship Game this coming Sunday, the NFL has released what’s definitely one of the best player videos ever made. You could see that right below:
It’s hard not to fall in love with the Brock Purdy story, even if you hate the 49ers. Even Paul Heyman’s a fan now.
Whether or not the dream run ends on Sunday, Purdy will never go back to being irrelevant. He has the markings of a quarterback who will be a star in this league for years to come.
