Rob Gronkowski is almost certain to get his name into the Hall of Fame. Most probably this year.
The former NFL tight end saw the best years of his football career at the New England Patriots.
Gronkowski played for his first nine illustrious years for the Pats. The New York native recorded 521 catches for 7,861 yards and 79 touchdowns, all in all, for the Patriots. Additionally, the 6-ft-6 won three out of his four Super Bowls for the team.
Sounds all happy and holistic, right? Not really.
Gronk got schooled by one of the very best in the business, Bill Belichick.
Recently, a video went viral where Rob recounted his early days at the NY camp and his firsthand experience with coach Belichick.
He looked back on a series of unfortunate events during his pre-draft interview. After partying hard at the University of Arizona, Gronk showed up for his visit to the Patriots. Hungover and exhausted.

During the interview, he fell asleep on the floor and struggled to engage with head coach Bill and the coaching staff. When asked about a play by offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien, he famously responded with a flippant remark about just wanting the ball, leaving them astonished.

Despite the initial fumble, the Patriots drafted him No. 42 overall in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft. But Gronk being Gronk, it did not take him more than five minutes to set coach Bill off.
“My family came on stage as well. We got in a huddle. We were [cheering] in the huddle, jumping up and down. And then all of a sudden I get a phone call from the Patriots, and they said, ‘Hey Rob, you can get off now, like enough is enough,” Gronkowski recalled.

It’s almost embarrassing to imagine what it felt like being Rob Gronkowski on that very day. Despite a draft selection, he got silent humiliation when asked to calm down.
“And I’m sitting there like, ‘Wow I’m already in trouble. It’s been five minutes since I’ve been on the Patriots, and I’m already in trouble,” Gronk later added.

Nevertheless, Gronk went on to become one of the most successful tight ends in NFL history. Today, he serves as a studio analyst for Fox Sports and remains a prominent figure in the sports world.
