The Cleveland Browns have a variety of quarterbacks to evaluate this summer, including veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett and rookie draft picks Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders.
Meanwhile, Deshaun Watson will be lingering as the high-priced quarterback recovers from tearing his Achilles tendon twice during last season.
Watson is reportedly chipping in beyond his recovery duties.
Watson is taking on an additional role this offseason as he recovers from a re-aggravated Achilles injury: mentoring QBs.
Watson is said to be a source of support to the four quarterbacks vying for the starting job, including Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders, whom the former first-round pick has taken “under his wing,” according to Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot.
“Watson has been an awesome teammate inside the quarterback room and meeting rooms, and has been a great cheerleader for the four quarterbacks vying for the starting job,” Cabot reported Sunday, citing sources.

In the case of Shedeur Sanders, the 23-year-old son of NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, Watson is said to be aiding the former Buffaloes quarterback “come up the learning curve quickly, and it’s been working,” Cabot reported.
Three years after signing a fully guaranteed $230 million contract, he has only played 19 games with the Browns. He has a shot of playing in 2025, but the team might not want to risk it and just part ways with their mistake during the next offseason.
