After months of ongoing talks regarding a potential change to the NFL’s playoff format, the official verdict came down and the 2020 season will not have the traditional 12-team playoff format.
ESPN insider Adam Schefter confirmed on Tuesday that the new playoff format was approved and that Wild Card Weekend will now consist of six total games, where as before, it had four games.
Now, the NFL will have 14 teams in the playoffs.
If this was in place last season, the Rams and Steelers would’ve qualified for the postseason.
Even with the changes, nothing is set in stone, even playing the regular season as the coronavirus continues to get worse and worse everyday.
