New Orleans Saints superstar offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk is retiring from football after a seven-year playing career.
On Thursday evening, Ryan Ramczyk announced in an Instagram post that he’s retiring from football, five days before his 31st birthday. Ramczyk thanked his coaches, family and Saints fans in the heartwarming post:
Ramczyk missed the entire 2024 season recovering from a serious knee injury that wasn’t recovering the way he had hoped. The All-Pro offensive tackle told reporters in December 2023 that cartilage was deteriorating in his knee, leaving his playing career up in the air.
With Ryan Ramczyk on the verge of turning 31, the 2017 first-round pick decided it was time to put his health first and retire. Ramczyk spent his entire seven-year career with the Saints and helped them to four NFC East division crowns and a 2018 NFC Championship Game appearance.
New Orleans drafted Ramczyk 32nd overall, having obtained that first-round pick from the New England Patriots in the Brandin Cooks blockbuster deal. Ramczyk was one of five stars that the Saints drafted that year, along with cornerback Marshon Lattimore, running back Alvin Kamara, safety Marcus Williams and edge rusher Trey Hendrickson.
Ramczyk was a 2019 First-team All-Pro and a two-time Second-team All-Pro (2018 and 2020). He was also named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2017, along with Kamara, Williams and Lattimore.

Saints Need To Draf Ryan Ramczyk’s Replacement

The Saints widely used their 2024 first-round pick on promising Oregon State offensive lineman Taliese Fuaga, but they’ll need to address the other side of the o-line in next week’s draft.
2022 first-round pick Trevor Penning hasn’t developed as expected, and his lack of progress has been problematic in New Orleans. So with all of the top free agent offensive tackles long gone, look for the Saints to use one of their early-round selections on a new tackle.
