A popular NFL analyst has compared a 2025 second-round pick to Kansas City Chiefs superstar tight end Travis Kelce.
That may feel like a stretch to some, but let’s not forget that Travis Kelce wasn’t exactly highly-touted coming out of college. The future Hall of Famer, after all, wasn’t drafted until round three at No. 63 overall in 2013.
Kelce has emerged as one of the greatest draft steals in league history, with 10 Pro Bowl nods and three Super Bowl rings on his resume. Taylor Swift’s boyfriend holds several impressive records, including most career playoff receptions (178).
Now, a prominent analyst is comparing New York Jets rookie tight end Mason Taylor (the No. 42 pick in this year’s draft) to Kelce. Taylor spent his three seasons of college football with the LSU Tigers.
Fitting, yes, since Mason’s surname is the first name of Kelce’s girlfriend.
During an appearance on “The Official Jets Podcast”, NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger explained why Mason Taylor reminds him of Travis Kelce:
“When you watch him run, there’s just not a lot of guys that are that big at 6-foot-5, 250 that are that smooth. Look, the production of Travis Kelce is off the charts, but he looks like Travis Kelce running.”

Now that’s what I’m talking about! @BaldyNFL told @eallenjets that when he watches #Jets rookie TE Mason Taylor on tape he sees some Travis Kelce action. 👀

What’s interesting is that Taylor’s college production was actually better than Kelce’s. The former caught 129 passes for 1,308 yards and six touchdowns in 38 college games, whereas Kelce had 59 receptions for 875 yards and 10 touchdowns in 35 games.
This isn’t to say that Mason Taylor will be anything close to as good as Travis Kelce. But there’s a lot to like about Taylor’s game, and nobody should be surprised if he outperforms his draft spot the way Kelce has for 12 years.
2025 Could Be Travis Kelce’s Final NFL Season

Kelce considered retirement after the Chiefs’ heartbreaking 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59. But after taking some time to mull it over, Kelce decided to return for his age-36 season.
Travis Kelce’s production has declined considerably over the last two seasons, too, so don’t be surprised if he calls it quits after 2025. Especially if KC ends up winning the Super Bowl.
