The New England Patriots lost to the rival Miami Dolphins on Sunday in an ugly start to their 2022 season.
The 24-year-old Mac Jones was sacked twice and had two turnovers in the Patriots’ sloppy 20-7 loss to the Fins. It was the sophomore quarterback’s first game starting with senior assistant Matt Patricia serving as the offensive play-caller.
All in all, Jones went 21 of 30 for 213 yards, one touchdown, and one interception Sunday.
The performance by Jones and the rest of the Patriots on the field was enough for the fan base to call for Bill Belichick to be fired.
The Patriots who have not beaten Tua Tagovailoa’s Dolphins under coach Bill Belichick. With Miami sporting a new-look offense, it was Tua who was clearly the better quarterback in this contest. The 2020 first round pick completed 23 of 33 pass attempts for 270 yards and a touchdown. More importantly, he didn’t turn the ball over once.
Mac Jones and the Pats will have a chance to get into the win column when they visit the Steelers (1-0) next Sunday. It the offense struggles once again, Belichick may want to start thinking about how he’s going to get Josh McDaniels back on his sideline.
