Disgraced NFL head coach Jon Gruden reportedly used an extremely vulgar term to describe-then Oakland Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer in a 2012 email.
In Oct. 2021, Gruden announced his resignation from the Raiders following the disturbing details of his email scandal. The investigation found that from 2011 to 2018, Gruden used racist, homophobic and misogynistic terms in several emails.
Gruden’s awful emails including attacks on NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith, league commissioner Roger Goodell and U.S. President Joe Biden. With a firing inevitable, Gruden opted to resign five games into the season.
The House Committee on Oversight and Reform provided another email exchange between Gruden and former Washington President and general manager Bruce Allen. Per Pro Football Talk, Gruden used an extremely vulgar term towards Palmer in a 2012 email.

Palmer was acquired by the Raiders in a 2011 trade with the Cincinnati Bengals, who had moved forward with rookie Andy Dalton as their starting quarterback. He played with the Raiders through the 2012 season before getting traded to the Arizona Cardinals, where Palmer enjoyed a career revival under “Quarterbacks Whisperer” Bruce Arians.
Gruden was fired by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after a disappointing 2008 season. From 2009 to 2017, he worked as an analyst in the booth on ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” program.
After a decade away from coaching, Gruden returned to the sidelines after Raiders owner Mark Davis handed him a massive 10-year contract worth $100 million. There was a lot of buzz surrounding Gruden’s return to coaching, but Davis’ lucrative signing simply did not pan out.
The Raiders never finished with a winning season in Gruden’s second stint with the organization. Interim head coach Rich Bisaccia, a longtime Gruden assistant, won seven of 12 games at the helm to help the Raiders end a five-year playoff drought. Las Vegas lost to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Wild Card Round.
