Laremy Tunsil went straight to the playbook of Richard Sherman.
On Friday, the Houston Texans made Laremy Tunsil the highest-paid left tackle when they struck a blockbuster three-year contract extension with the Pro Bowl left tackle that averages $22 million per year.
Tunsil receives $57 million guaranteed, including a $13 million signing bonus.
On top of that, it turns out Tunsil negotiated this contract on his own directly with HC/GM Bill O’Brien.
The Texans gave up a lot to acquire Tunsil last season, so it’s not surprising they would want to hang on to him to help keep Deshaun Watson upright.
The 25-year-old former first-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2016 appeared in 14 games for the Texans and made 14 starts for them at left tackle. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 21 offensive tackle out of 81 qualifying players.
