The Seattle Seahawks were not among the NFL teams most expected to trade their quarterback this year, but they’ve gone ahead and dealt Geno Smith.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the team is sending the QB to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for a third-round pick.
The move will see him reunite with former head coach Pete Carroll, who is now in Sin City and played a part in him becoming a Pro Bowler while in Seattle.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, the Seahawks were willing to add star wide receiver DK Metcalf to the deal so they could get pass rusher Maxx Crosby. However, the Raiders would not entertain it, letting them know that Crosby was not available.

Talks continued despite Seattle being turned down, which ended up in the Raiders landing a new quarterback.

It appears folks were correct in suspecting that Geno Smith could move to Vegas after Carroll was spied having an hour-long Seahawks HC and GM Mike MacDonald and John Schneider during a recent flight.
Smith is now to hold the reins at another franchise after resurrecting his career under Carroll in Seattle and firing the Seahawks to three consecutive winning seasons as a starting QB.
He will probably get to pick Tom Brady’s brains as an added bonus.
