When Shilo Sanders saw President Donald Trump publicly backing his brother Shedeur Sanders during the 2025 NFL Draft, his reaction was far from reserved.
“That was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen, bro,” Shilo said while appearing on the One Night with Steiny podcast. This kind of presidential attention still made waves for a family that’s already grabbing too much media attention.
Shilo didn’t hold back his excitement over the Truth Social post that went out just before the Cleveland Browns picked Shedeur in the fifth round. “If you got the president tweeting, bro, you know something’s wrong,” Shilo said, hinting at the shock and confusion many felt over his brother’s unexpected draft slide.
His comments added a personal layer to what had already become a headline-grabbing moment in sports and politics.
Trump’s Post Sparks A Reaction

Trump had taken to Truth Social to express disbelief over Shedeur’s draft status. “What is wrong with NFL owners, are they STUPID?” Trump wrote. “Deion Sanders was a great college football player, and was even greater in the NFL… Shedeur… has PHENOMENAL GENES, and is all set for Greatness.” The post came just a day before the Cleveland Browns selected Shedeur with the 144th overall pick.
Shilo hinted that someone close to Trump may have nudged him toward making that statement. “Just say it was someone close to me that maybe put it in his head that he needs to say something,” Shilo added with a smile. When Steiny joked that it could’ve been him, Shilo nodded in agreement, “That does make sense.”

TRENDING: Shilo Sanders says President Donald Trump posting his support Shedeur was the coolest thing ever

“Not even going to lie. That was the coolest thing I've ever seen. If you got the President pleading, you know something's wrong. W Trump. W Trump” pic.twitter.com/IauOiRPSbh
The timing of Trump’s post stirred conversation. Shedeur, once projected as a first-rounder, fell deep into Day 3 of the draft, reportedly due to overconfidence and subpar pre-draft interviews. Some fans believed Trump’s high-profile support added pressure on teams to take a second look.
At a White House press briefing, Trump’s Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed the timing without directly taking credit. When Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked if the president believed he influenced Shedeur’s selection, Leavitt responded, “All I will say is, the president put out a statement and a few rounds later he was drafted. So, I think the facts speak for themselves on that one, Peter.”
As the Sanders family adjusts to Shedeur’s new NFL chapter with the Browns, Shilo’s comments add a dose of humor and pride to a story that already had plenty of spotlight.
