As an NFL head coach, and not a player, Sean McVay of the Los Angeles Rams isn’t required to maintain elite conditioning and fitness.
But for the 39-year-old head coach, simply not being a player isn’t an excuse to stay out of the gym. Even during the offseason, when there’s time to travel and enjoy well-deserved vacations.
Ryan Sorensen, a prominent trainer who works with former Rams standout offensive lineman and Super Bowl 56 champion Andrew Whitworth, posted a video on his Instagram story of Sean McVay performing a series of weighted squats.
Take a glance at McVay’s physique, and he looks like someone who should be playing in the NFL instead of calling plays from his headset. No wonder the Rams love playing for their charismatic head coach.

Sean McVay just wrapped up his eighth season as head coach of the Rams. He has gone 80-52-0 over that period, with seven winning seasons, four NFC West division crowns (2017, 2018, 2021 and 2024), two NFC Championships (2018 and 2021) and a Super Bowl 56 championship.
McVay was named Coach of the Year in 2017 after guiding the Rams to 11 wins and an NFC West division crown, the franchise’s first playoff appearance since 2004. At this rate, he’s a lock for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Sean McVay’s Rams Will Be Contenders Again In 2025

After considering trade offers for Matthew Stafford, the Rams brought back their star quarterback on a revised deal. Then after free agency commenced, they signed superstar wide receiver Davante Adams to a two-year deal worth $44 million.
So after an Elite Eight appearance, the Rams will run it back with mostly the same core intact. The main difference is Adams replacing Cooper Kupp (released in a cap-saving move) as the No. 2 receiver behind Puka Nacua.
Throw in a young defense led by rising stars Jared Verse, Braden Fiske, Kobie Turner and Byron Young, and the Rams have all the pieces in place to contend for another Super Bowl in 2025.
