Social media detectives brought up the concerning legal past of Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter, widely regarded as the top prospect in this year’s clas, which could cause him to fall in the draft.
Abdul Carter has drawn comparisons to fellow Penn State product and Dallas Cowboys star linebacker Micah Parsons, who has 52.5 career sacks in just 63 NFL games. In his final season of college ball, Carter recorded 12 sacks, four pass breakups and two forced fumbles.
Though Carter is the consensus No. 1 prospect in the class, he’s no guarantee to go first overall. Miami quarterback Cam Ward and Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders could entice the Tennessee Titans at No. 1 overall, though Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter shouldn’t be ruled out as the top selection either.
With the 2025 NFL Draft coming closer, however, fans on social media brought up Carter’s troubled legal issues that could scare off multiple teams.
This includes an April 2024 incident where Abdul Carter allegedly assaulted a tow-truck driver for attempting to take away his vehicle, since the football star parked in a location without a permit.
Carter’s assault left the driver with a fractured rib, and he was subsequrntly placed in a Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program;
Not suggesting this is a federal issue at all.

But can't think of it coming up once in Nashville for how extensively we've discussed Abdul Carter as a #Titans' option in the top 3 with a trade or even at No. 1.https://t.co/EYDSzpUROF

You may recall that two years ago, Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter was the consensus No. 1 prospect in the 2023 NFL Draft. However, his involvement in a car accident that killed teammate Devin Willock and staff member Chandler LeCroy prompted Carter to fall down the draft board, and the Philadelphia Eagles traded up to get him at No. 9 overall.
Abdul Carter Will Still Be An Early Pick

It’s impossible to guess how much Abdul Carter’s off-the-field issues will impact his draft stock, if at all. But unlike previous years, there’s no virtual lock for the No. 1 pick of this years draft.
Still, it’d be a surprise if Carter wasn’t a top-four pick. The Titans, Cleveland Browns (No. 2), New York Giants (No. 3) and New England Patriots (No. 4) have pressing needs for edge rushing help, and one of them is sure to take the chance on his all-world skill set.
